MEANINGFUL MOMENTS

A Mindset for Everyday Empowerment

Supporting independence, confidence, and connection through person-centred care.

Our mindset focuses on recognising and creating small everyday experiences that build confidence, independence, and connection, helping each person live with choice, dignity, and opportunity.

At Flourish, we support people with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs to live fulfilling lives in their own self-contained supported living apartments, with tailored support that respects each person’s pace, preferences, and goals.

Grounded in our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach, we look beyond routines and tasks to recognise the small but powerful experiences that can enhance wellbeing, encourage independence, and create meaningful progress.

Recognising progress in the moments that matter

Progress is often found in small but significant moments - choosing what to wear, preparing a meal, starting a conversation, or taking part in an activity with growing confidence.

Our teams are trained to recognise these moments as meaningful indicators of increased independence, emotional wellbeing, and engagement. Through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach, we actively create opportunities for individuals to build skills at their own pace, celebrating progress that may otherwise go unnoticed but represents genuine personal achievement.

Examples include:

  • Making a choice independently

  • Completing a daily task with reduced support

  • Trying something new with reassurance

  • Returning to a familiar activity with increased confidence

  • Expressing preferences or making decisions

  • Taking part in an activity for longer than before

  • Demonstrating pride in an achievement

  • Developing communication, however expressed

These moments demonstrate growing confidence, self-belief, and meaningful personal progress.
